As the population ages, more individuals must
reside in nursing homes. Economic pressures and the desire for
profit cause many nursing homes to cut costs by employing
poorly trained, underpaid personnel and by skimping on medical
treatment for residents.
As a result, many patients have medical
conditions which could be diagnosed and treated but are
instead overlooked. Similarly, many residents are abused or
neglected by incompetent, uncaring and underpaid staff. Most
improper treatment and abuse are hidden from relatives and
friends, and the patient is often unable to adequately
articulate the negligent medical treatments, abuse or neglect.
Often residents are cleaned and cared for during regular
visitation periods but are neglected and not treated at other
times. If a resident's condition seems to be deteriorating and
the administrative and medical staff's can provide no
explanation, neglect or abuse is a possibility. If you observe
such deterioration, you have the right to an explanation from
the administration and/or medical personnel. IF that
explanation is not satisfactory, please contact us and we will
take prompt investigative action to protect the resident and
obtain compensation for any harm caused.
